FAQ

There are three possible routes:

Variant 1 - CFC for commercial employees in the insurance sector (or Young Insurance Professional AFA certificate) + at least 2 years' professional experience in the sector.

Variant 2 - CFC from another three-year basic training course or Matura + passing grade in the AFA insurance intermediary written examination + at least 2 years' professional experience in the sector.

Variant 3 - Other basic training + successful completion of the AFA insurance intermediary written examination + at least 5 years' professional experience, including 3 years in the insurance sector.

The course is aimed at employees of insurance companies or brokerage firms with a few years' professional experience following their apprenticeship.

More specifically, it is suitable for anyone who wants to :

  • Deepen your technical knowledge of private insurance
  • Extended responsibilities (management, advice, underwriting, claims)
  • Validate your expertise with a recognised federal qualification
  • Progress to a specialist or managerial position in the sector

This qualification is also aimed at recent insurance graduates, as well as candidates who are completely new to the field but who have a deep interest in it and want to build a qualified career.

The final federal examination for insurance specialists is held every autumn. It takes place online (written tests) over several days, generally in September for the compulsory modules, then at the end of the year for the final examination itself.

The exam is organised and managed by‘AFA (Association for Professional Insurance Training) throughout Switzerland. It is available in French, German and Italian. In French-speaking Switzerland, the tests take place in Yverdon-les-Bains.

The certificate is then officially awarded by SEFRI (State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation) to candidates who have passed all the tests.

Exam registration: via the official AFA platform at bildung.vbv.ch

The exact dates are published each year by the AFA - OSAM Formations will keep you informed as soon as they are published.

This course can be fully customised (content, format, language). Contact us for a free quote.

To register for the final exam, you must have obtained the certificates for all the modules (compulsory, elective and process).

The federal final examination is organised by AFA (Association pour la Formation Professionnelle en Assurance - Association for Professional Insurance Training) and includes an integrative final test covering all the knowledge acquired during the modules. It assesses the candidate's ability to :

  • Analysing complex professional situations
  • Applying legal and regulatory provisions
  • Arguing and defending concrete solutions

The examination consists of written tests (case studies) and, depending on the session, an oral test. If a module is failed, it can be retaken independently.

Registration for the federal final examination is different from that for the compulsory and elective modules. Registration is valid only if all the required documents have been submitted and the examination fees have been paid on time.
