Our test enables you to get a reliable initial assessment of your French language skills.
The test assesses, in particular:
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
The CEFR is the internationally recognised framework used to assess language proficiency.
You can understand simple expressions and communicate in everyday situations.
You are able to hold simple conversations and understand everyday information.
You can talk about familiar topics and understand the main points of a conversation.
You communicate with ease in both professional and personal contexts.
You speak the language fluently in complex situations.
You understand and use English at a level close to that of a native speaker.
The result you receive at the end of the test provides an estimate of your level of English according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), the international standard used to assess language skills.
This official scale, developed by the Council of Europe, comprises six reference levels ranging from A1 (beginner) to C2 (proficient). It is used by training organisations, businesses, universities and numerous internationally recognised certification schemes.
Our placement test provides an initial, reliable assessment of your knowledge. However, it does not replace an official qualification.
To find out more about the CEFR and the official language levels, you can consult the resources of the Council of Europe
