Context and issues

The Federal Certificate in AI Business Specialist occupies a strategic position in the Swiss professional landscape. It trains experts capable of designing, managing and deploying transformation projects based on artificial intelligence within companies. The course aims to develop advanced skills in AI strategy, marketing, digital and performance, which are essential for excelling in a rapidly changing business environment.

Holders of the Federal Certificate are prepared to integrate AI at the heart of corporate strategy and processes, to identify AI levers for marketing and sales, and to ensure effective digital transformation. The training covers a variety of areas such as project management, creativity and innovation, digital marketing and AI tools, providing comprehensive preparation for the modern challenges facing organisations.

Exploring AI, its uses and developments. Master the main categories of AI and their economic and societal impacts.

II AI-Business Strategy and Governance

Define an AI vision in line with the company's strategy: governance, ethics, compliance and return on investment.

Two admission profiles are accepted:

Profile A (ICT stream) : hold a CFC or equivalent qualification in the field of information and communication technologies, and have at least 2 years' professional experience.

Profile B (other sector) : hold a CFC, Maturité or equivalent qualification, and have at least 4 years' professional experience, including 2 years specifically in the development or management of projects, products or processes.

This course prepares after-sales technical service professionals who wish to structure, enhance and certify their expertise with a federal qualification recognised throughout Switzerland. It is aimed in particular at :

  • After-sales service managers and coordinators in an industrial or commercial company
  • Experienced service technicians wishing to move into management or coordination roles
  • Employees in the hotline, support, technical assistance and spare parts departments wishing to progress towards greater responsibilities
  • Project managers involved in the installation, commissioning and handover of machinery and plant, particularly in exporting companies
  • Anyone holding a CFC with at least 2 years' experience in after-sales technical support, active in industry, craft or commerce

Federal patent examination AI Business Specialist is organised at national level by ICT-Vocational training Switzerland.

Examination sessions are generally held once a year, according to an official timetable published in advance. The first sessions are scheduled from 2026-2027.

As far as the venue is concerned, the exam takes place in examination centres in Switzerland, to be determined by the organiser. Candidates will be informed of the exact location (town, address, times). after validation of their registration.

It is therefore not necessary to sit the exam at the centre where you did your training: you can register directly with the official body.

The course is priced at CHF 12 900., excluding federal examination fees.

The good news is that the Confederation can reimburse up to 50 % of your training costs. Since 2018, the Confederation has reimbursed 50 % of the costs of courses preparing for a federal certificate, up to a maximum of CHF 9,500, provided that the candidate sits the federal examination after the course. Entitlement to the subsidy is independent of the examination result. 

In concrete terms, for a course costing CHF 12,900, you can receive a reimbursement of CHF 6 450.00, bringing your net investment to CHF 6 450.00.

Qualifying conditions:

  • Attend a course on the SEFRI list of preparatory courses, pay the course fees yourself and be legally resident in Switzerland at the time of taking the exam.
  • The grant application is submitted after passing the federal examination, by submitting invoices and proof of payment via the SEFRI online portal.

You should also bear in mind that the price of the exam is not included in the preparation. It depends on the examination centre, and costs around CHF 2,000.

The final federal examination comprises three additional tests:

Test 1: Identification and testing of an AI application (45 min) Format: Presentation and oral professional interview -> Weighting: 50 %

Test 2: Integration of AI-based solutions (120 min) Format: Written case study -> Weighting: 25 %

Test 3: The challenges of using AI (60 min) Format: Critical Incidents oral -> Weighting: 25 % ESM
